Theological Anthropology: Critical Modernists

This seminar will look at theological anthropology in the work of 20th century theologians who develop the tradition of Schleiermacher, a group known as critical revisionists (or revisionist modernists). After recognizing Schleiermacher's contribution, the course will treat theological anthropology in selected contemporary figures such as Paul Tillich, David Tracy, Gordon Kaufman, and Edward Farley. Prerequisite: XTIANTHE755 or permission of instructor. 3 units.
